A weakly alkaline refractory. Contains 35% to 55% of magnesium oxide a considerable amount of magnesium ferrite. The MgO / SiO2 molar ratio is 0.94 to 1.33. The main crystalline phase is forsterite 2MgO · SiO2 (abbreviated as M2Si). It has certain resistance to alkali slag, high fire resistance softening temperature under load, strong resistance to iron oxide erosion. Using peridotite, serpentine, pure peridotite, talc, etc. as raw materials, an appropriate amount of sintered magnesia is added fired in an oxidizing atmosphere. The firing temperature increases with the increase of the amount of magnesia added. It can be used for the lining of non-ferrous metal smelting furnaces, steel furnace open-hearth heat storage chambers cement rotary kiln.
